Re: Ad Issue during Video Playback on http://xfinitytv.comcast.net/

First of all, I am on your side, and I would never discourage anybody from writing to a company about issues.  However, do not expect any concern from an advertiser regarding this issue.  Whoever controls distribution of program content will always dominate the industry, and that is why Comcast dominates the cable and broadcast industry.  Geico is not going to stop doing business with them.

Of course, it is obvious that Comcast has the commercials fixed so that they keep repeating.  Notice how far back the problem has been reported.  They are not going to fix it until they have some competition, which is not going to happen anytime soon, if ever.  They are taking care of the legislature, and are even currently attempting to get out of providing services such as local cable access, which they agreed to in order to gain favor with the government to begin with.  Furthermore, while they are finally offering low priced Broadband to low income households with children, they are not doing so for low income households in general.  People can live without cable tv, but without a Broadband connection, people are up the creek.

By the way, once upon a time I was paying $45 for Broadband and about another $30 for cable.  I decided to cancel my cable, and I was told by Comcast that would be fine, and that once they cancelled my cable, they would jack up my Broadband to $65.  Good one, eh?

I do not know if I have already posted about this on this thread, but several weeks ago, I spoke with somebody in Comcast's tech department about the matter of the endless cycles of commercials.  I have my cable box hooked up to my computer and this alleged tech told me that she had never heard of anybody hooking a cable box up to a computer.  I thought that I had misheard her, but she repeated herself.  The second time she added that nobody had ever heard of hooking a cable box up to a computer.

Comcast is one of the companies that has been marketing the computer has the hub of not only home entertainment, but of controlling the house in general, from lights to ovens to HVAC to security.  You know, the smart house.  You cannot get any dumber than that woman was.  However, it is typical of Comcast. I'd say that one out of three times I call with an issue, I find a smart and helpful person.  That ratio has been consistent for the past fourteen years.  But I am stuck with them due to lack of competition.  I cannot make a lateral move to another company to get the same services.
